Singl coffee was born out of a love for coffee. Truly great, real, coffee.
Like most people from a working-class background, I was first introduced to coffee through the mass produced instant variety. My family were not big coffee drinkers, so fresh ground coffee was something I didn’t have much exposure to. I didn’t mind though, because I liked my different varieties of instant. When I was introduced to freshly ground coffee years later, I LOVED it! Since then coffee has been my drink of choice. Hot, cold, short, long, at work, at home, summer or winter.
Over the years I realised why real coffee was shrouded in snobbery and never made it into most UK homes. It was just too complex a drink to create. You needed beans to be ground, machines, filter papers, etc. etc. It was expensive and time consuming. With the rise of coffee shops and home brewing capsule machines, coffee has seen a whole new lease of life. The complexity has been removed, it is now accessible, and as a result its popularity has exploded.
Here at Singl coffee, we don’t think coffee has reached its peak yet, and if simplicity is key, we aim to take that to the next level. We want fresh ground coffee to be accessible to everybody, every day, no matter where you are. Coffee capsule machines are great, we love them, but you can’t put it in your bag and carry it to work with you! If you don’t put up with bad instant coffee at home, why put up with it anywhere else?
We are working on bringing a range of freshly ground coffee bags and capsules to your doorstep. Ordered online, and delivered every month at the same time to your home or office. You simply choose your favourite coffee bean region, choose a subscription time-scale, and sit back. We deliver them through your letterbox, or to your office, so you never have to worry about missing a delivery. Capsules at home, coffee bags everywhere else. It’s a win-win for everybody.
The coffee industry is rife with social and environmental issues. That is why Singl coffee are dedicated to only sourcing responsible coffee. Coffee that supports its community and the farmers that grow it. It is our way of giving back and saying thank you and it is the very least that companies in the industry can do. Coffee produces tremendous amounts of harmful waste and it’s time we started to take responsibility for the environmental impact this has on the world. We aim to use recyclable, biodegradable and compostable materials wherever possible, and reduce unnecessary packaging.
Before I sign off, I want to add that this is not another faceless company. We are a friendly, accessible company for everybody that appreciates coffee. If you like what we do; tell us. If you don’t like what we do; tell us. If you think we can improve; tell us. If you just want to ask a question; go ahead and ask it, we don’t stand on ceremony!
